SARAJEVO, June 4 (FENA) - Temporary Commission of Inquiry of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH for determining the situation in the judicial institutions of BiH adopted the Rules of Procedure at today's session in Sarajevo, and agreed on future work.

Commission Chairman Damir Arnaut (Our Party) told reporters that the session was held a day after the Peace Implementation Council gave its support to the commission yesterday, adding that the Commission was also mentioned in a communiqué.

"I am sure, especially taking into account the dynamics and interest of all members of the commission, that we will do a good job in accordance with the mandate given to us by the House of Representatives and on all powers we have in accordance with the Law on Parliamentary Oversight and Rules of Procedure. According to the rules of procedure adopted by the commission today," said Arnaut.

He added that the Commission had adopted several conclusions, and that, among other things, he urged the law enforcement authorities to provide them with information on criminal charges they had filed with the competent prosecutor's offices in the past five years.

"We are asking for information from the prosecutor's office on how they acted on the criminal charges, and what the result is in terms of the number of indictments filed, the number of investigations conducted, completed, etc.,” said Arnaut.

Member of the Commission Branislav Borenović (PDP) believes that the members of the commission are ready to do their job, not only transparently, but to try to come up with serious proposals that would improve the situation in judiciary in this country "which is in a very bad shape".

He pointed out that his main goal is "to have an impartial, independent, objective and efficient judiciary in this country, free from any political pressure."

"Obviously, it is not today, because we do not have results, we do not have the epilogue of all these numerous scandals that are so obvious, and where politics obviously keeps the judiciary under one type of control. We have a terrible policy of inaction and resentment and that is the greatest damage for this country," concluded Borenović.
