SARAJEVO, June 2 (FENA) - Head of the SDA caucus in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, Adil Osmanović, welcomed the assessments of the representatives of the international community on the need for prosecutorial institutions to function without political influence.
“We are witnesses that the public reacts with dissatisfaction and anger towards the Prosecutor's Office, which is a situation that no one wants. At the same time, no one disputes that there are strong political influences behind the ongoing investigations. Without these political influences, there would be no public pressure. Citizens and the public have the right to demand that the Prosecutor's Office be independent, and that is the task of the legislative authorities,” Osmanović stated in a press release.
He said that the public is familiar with the report of the European Commission expert Reinhard Priebe, who stated very clearly and in detail that the existing system of the Prosecutor's Office and the HJPC is neither independent nor efficient.
“Judicial reform is an essential need of society and the state in the context of our European path and in the general demands of citizens for justice. Presenting the thesis that everything is fine with the Prosecutor's Office and the HJPC is a wrong approach, which in fact only deepens distrust in the judiciary,” Osmanović pointed out.
