Pandemic results in tourism: Only 760 tourists in April, 99.3 percent decline

SARAJEVO, June 2 (FENA) - The coronavirus pandemic has changed many aspects of life, especially the economy around the world, and thus the economic sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The consequences, according to experts, will be felt for years, and the biggest ones are already being felt by the tourism sector and companies in the field of passenger transport.

According to the FBiH Bureau of Statistics, the results for April 2020 on the number of tourists objectively reflect the real situation in the current circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The total number of tourist arrivals in April 2020 was 760, which is 99.3 percent less than in April 2019, and compared to March 2020, it is 95.3 percent less. The share of domestic tourists was 79.1 percent, and foreign tourists 20.9 percent.

For the period January - April 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, the statistics recorded a slight decline and amounted to 57.8 percent less arrivals and 55.9 percent less overnight stays.
