SARAJEVO, May 28 (FENA) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its session today, adopted a Decision on reopening the borders of our country with neighboring countries as of June 1.

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Zoran Tegeltija confirmed this at the press conference today, specifying that the Decision applies to Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, i.e. to all their citizens, who are allowed to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina, without restrictions.

“The set of measures that facilitate the flow of people, goods and capital includes the decision to reopen international border crossings for traffic at airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Tegeltija, stating that everyone who travels by plane will have to comply with all restrictions which are defined in accordance with the current epidemiological situation.

He reminded that the participants of the session also focused on the request of the business community in BiH to ensure preferential treatment of domestic goods in the next year, given that the earlier decision in this regard expires on June 1, and having in mind the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

These are issues that are regulated by the agreement with the European Union, which was signed on June 1, 2015.

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH points out that the request of the business community in BiH was to provide preferential treatment in the next year in the amount of 50 percent, and that the Council estimates that it is necessary to provide such treatment for domestic entities at a rate of 30 percent.

He announced that the Public Procurement Agency will prepare a proposal for a decision in this regard, and that it will be adopted, no later than Saturday, May 30, in order to maintain the preferential treatment for BiH goods after June 1.

Answering journalists' inquiries, Tegeltija underlined that the mentioned decision regarding the reopening of the border for foreign citizens refers exclusively to the entry of citizens of Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, and that the Decision on banning the entry of foreign citizens in early March remains in force.

At the same time, he said that the epidemiological situation in BiH, neighboring countries and other countries will continue to be monitored, in order to determine the issue of gradual reopening of the BiH border for other countries, bearing in mind the epidemiological situation in each country.

Asked about securing funds for the 2020 Local Elections, Tegeltija confirmed that those funds would be planned in the 2020 budget.

Chairman Tegeltija stated that a number of agreements on international cooperation were discussed, and the Agreement on grant funds for continuation of the construction of Corridor 5c was approved.
