SARAJEVO, May 26 (FENA) - Public Relations Consultant of the FBiH Ministry of Health, Zlatan Peršić, said today that the epidemiological situation in the Federation of BiH is still satisfactory, but that the threat still exists, and that it is necessary to continue to adhere to personal protection measures against coronavirus.

In the past 24 hours in the Federation of BiH, according to him, a total of 339 samples were tested, and three were positive for Covid-19.

“New cases have been registered in the Zenica-Doboj, Tuzla and Sarajevo Canton,” said Peršić during an address by representatives of FBiH institutions

So far, a total of 34.941 samples have been tested in the FBiH, and Covid-19 has been confirmed in 1.025 people. When it comes to gender structure, 54.63 percent of women have been infected with coronavirus and 45.37 percent are men. As of today, a total of 914 patients have recovered in FBiH, which means, as Peršić added, that we currently have 73 active cases. We have recorded 38 deaths in FBiH, 22 are males and 16 are females. In terms of age structure, just over 63 percent were people over the age of 65.

“According to epidemiological estimates, a small percentage of people were in contact with this virus, which means that a large number of our citizens are still at risk for this infection, which means that we will have new cases of Covid-19 in the coming period. It is also realistic to expect that there will be a second wave of the epidemic and that is why we continue to insist that citizens be careful and adhere to personal protection measures,” said Peršić. He mentioned that regular monitoring of the epidemiological situation continues, and that new measures and recommendations will be adopted depending on that.

A session of the FBiH Civil Protection Crisis Staff should be held this week, and the proposal of the Crisis Staff of the FBiH Ministry of Health will be to allow the operation of shopping centers at this stage with the implementation of appropriate hygienic and epidemiological measures, Peršić added.
