TUZLA, May 26 (FENA) - Tuzla marked 25 years since the horrific massacre at Kapija (Gate) yesterday, when the grenade fired from Mount Ozren on 25th May 1995 killed 71 persons and injured more than 200. This massacre, also known as the crime against Tuzla youth, is one of the most severe crimes committed against civilians of Tuzla.

Every year, the City of Tuzla organizes a commemorative event on May 25 in memory of the victims of the crimes at Kapija and in memory of all civilian victims of the war.

The previous way of marking this event would gather a large number of citizens, families of the victims, government representatives and other organizations, but this year, due to the measures in force to prevent and protect against the coronavirus pandemic, the usual protocol and commemorative program was not organized.

However, families of the victims and numerous friends, representatives of the City of Tuzla and other levels of government, as well as other official delegations, laid wreaths and paid tribute, but with the protection of a limited number of people in the delegation.
