SARAJEVO, May 21 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović talked today with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland Leo Varadkar.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the current situation in the two countries, with special emphasis on the coronavirus pandemic and its consequences for the economy. It was jointly assessed that there is room for improving the friendly relations between the two countries in terms of economic cooperation.
Chairman Džaferović thanked Prime Minister Varadkar for the full support that the Republic of Ireland provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to the European Union. He expressed expectations that our country will receive candidate status as soon as possible. The interlocutors agreed that the enlargement of the European Union to the region of the Western Balkans would contribute to overall stability and prosperity.
Chairman Džaferović and Prime Minister Varadkar pointed out the exceptionally good cooperation and mutual support that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Ireland have in international organizations and associations, the Presidency of BiH announced.
