SARAJEVO, May 15 (FENA) - The Cantonal Court in Tuzla, according to the indictment of the Prosecutor's Office of the Tuzla Canton, passed the first-instance judgment against two migrants, Algerian nationals Hicham Bellarbi, born in 1994, and Karim Chemini, born in 1997, and sentenced them to 15 years in prison each for the crime of murder.
The indictment charges Bellarbi and Chemini with meeting their compatriot Abderrezak Brahimi near the Tuzlanka Department Store on July 30, 2019, half an hour after midnight, demanding money from him, after which they physically attacked him and stabbed him 10 times in the neck, chest and abdomen. Brahimi died of injuries shortly afterward at the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
The Tuzla Cantonal Court extended the custody of the accused under the provisions of the FBiH Criminal Procedure Code.
The prosecution will assess whether to file an appeal against the first instance verdict, the Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton announced.
