SARAJEVO, May 12 (FENA) - The Cantonal Board of the SDA Sarajevo considers absurd the claim of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office that the investigation against Elmedin Konaković was suspended "because there was not enough evidence that the suspect was aware of the illegality of the crime committed."
The SDA Sarajevo states that Elmedin Konaković was the chairman of the SC Assembly at the time and before the commission of the criminal act, and as the holder of that function he had to know the content of the Law on the Official Seal of the Sarajevo Canton.
They add that, in the end, Konaković himself confirmed that when he stated that he knew the Law and that he was well aware of what he was doing, after all, the SDA deputies have publicly warned on several occasions that Konaković was violating the law.
"The fact that the SC Prosecutor's Office defends Konaković by claiming that he did not violate the law, but that he "was not aware of it and did not know the law", only indicates a suspicion that this is a case of direct political influence and the Prosecutor Office's avoidance to enforce the law.
It is also indicative that the decision to suspend the proceedings against Konaković comes only a few days after a high-ranking official from Konaković's political party and former minister Admir Katica was appointed to a position in the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council," the SDA said in a statement.
