SARAJEVO, May 8 (FENA) - President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović sent congratulations on the occasion of the Day of Golden Lilies, the Day of Victory over Fascism and the Day of Europe, saying that May 9 is a day with very significant messages.
“This is the date when we remember the victory of the allied armies, including the Bosnian partisans, over the military forces of fascism that terrorized the European continent, with the intention to exterminate entire nations from the face of the earth and, instead of equality and justice, introduce the principle of force and domination as the only principle that should regulate relations between people and states,” he said.
He emphasized that the victory over fascism did not end on May 9, 1945 which was shown in the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the crime of genocide was committed again 47 years after the "never again" sentence was pronounced.
“The only military force that opposed aggression and genocide in BiH was the Army of the Republic of BiH, in which Golden Lilies hold a special place,” Izetbegović pointed out.
The struggle between the allied armies and the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina reminds that a real military force is needed for a just fight, he points out, and that only such force can stop fascist projects, and this is one of the most important lessons of those historical periods.
He warns that even today some are trying to rehabilitate fascist projects, and it is important that we vigorously oppose this.
