SARAJEVO, May 4 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Staša Košarac, spoke today with UNDP Resident Representative in BiH Steliana Nedera on measures to address the negative effects of coronavirus on the BiH economy.
The officials highlighted that UNDP is working to assess the impact of coronavirus on the economy, and that it was decided that the defined priorities, current projects and budgets should be tailored to help BiH's economy to recover and improve its business in the future.
The UNDP delegation briefed Minister Košarac on current assistance projects.
It is stated that the EU-funded EU4Business project implemented by UNDP, the German Development Agency and the International Labor Organization is currently working on adapting project support measures to support the local economy and small businesses during the crisis caused by coronavirus pandemic.
It was also pointed out that the project "EU4Agri" was launched not so long ago, which will provide financial support to the agri-food sector and rural development for the next four years, in the amount of about 15 million euros.
The officials said UNDP plans to tailor support for the ongoing Via Dinarica project to the needs and demands for tourism recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this regard, Minister Košarac emphasized that tourism is one of the most vulnerable industries in the newly created circumstances, and that he intensively talks with international financial organizations in order to secure funds for the recovery of this sector, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH stated.
