Radončić and USC representatives discuss migrant situation

SARAJEVO, May 4 (FENA) – BiH Minister of Security, Fahrudin Radončić, received today Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton (USC) Mustafa Ružnić and USC Police Commissioner Mujo Koričić to discuss the current migrant situation in this canton.

USC representatives have given full support to a new approach to resolving the migrant crisis, presented by Minister Radončić, which offers durable solutions for illegal economic migrants, the BiH Ministry of Security stated.

Radončić spoke with USC leaders about addressing burning issues in this canton related to security and accommodation issues for illegal economic migrants, which, according to USC police, this canton has currently about 5.000 of them.

USC representatives have informed Radončić that since the beginning of the migrant crisis, 296 crimes have been reported in the USC, for which 344 migrants have been reported, including two murders and eight attempted murders. Illegal migrants also committed 270 misdemeanors, most of them related to fights, physical assaults and insolent behavior. Also, during this period, migrants participated in 1.898 incidents.

It was stated that the security situation in the USC area has been significantly endangered, and Minister Radončić gave full support to the USC authorities in their efforts to preserve public order and peace and provide citizens with normal living and working conditions, the BiH Ministry of Security announced.
