ZENICA, April 29 (FENA) - All quarantines in the Zenica-Doboj Canton have been closed and citizens who returned to BiH and were staying in hotels and motels in that canton were negative for coronavirus testing, Cantonal Health Minister Adnan Jupić confirmed for FENA.
“Unlike other cantons, although there was some indiscipline within the quarantines, we did not have any positive tests on these persons, which is great. Especially when we know that more than 200 people have passed through our quarantines in several municipalities, Minister Jupić pointed out.
According to the latest information, the number of people infected in that canton is 159, and 3.233 are under medical supervision.
The biggest number of infected persons has been detected in the area of Maglaj municipality (86 confirmed cases), and the number of infected persons is increasing day by day. Companies Bontex and H-M Promet, which recorded the infection of most people in the city, are not currently working.
He added that 77 infected persons are currently placed in the isolation unit at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, while the capacity of the ward is 220 beds. The capacity can be increased to 250 beds in the short term.
None of the infected persons in this canton have died so far, no one is currently on a ventilator, and 19 people are being treated at the Department of Infectious Diseases at Zenica Cantonal Hospital.
Kemal Efendić, Director of the Zenica Nursing Home, confirmed that all residents tested negative.
So far, the infection has been detected in three workers but was not confirmed among the elderly in the nursing home.
