SARAJEVO, April 28 (FENA) - The Social Democratic Party (SDP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina is seeking an urgent investigation into a "suspicious procurement of ventilators form Chines via a company that primarily works in the sector of fruit processing."
"It is unacceptable that immediately after the announcement of this procurement, the public is informed that the Crisis Staff has not even become familiarized with the procurement procedure," the SDP said.
This party is seeking an answer as to who made the decision on the procurement of ventilators and the selection of suppliers and whether the medical profession on the type of ventilator was consulted on this occasion.
The public has the right to know whether these ventilators have been certified and whether there is a service technician in the company that has purchased the devices that will perform the mandatory annual inspection and at which referral hospitals the ventilators are to be used.
“Although it is not surprising that people's enormous amounts of money are spent on the ventilators of an unknown model through a fruit processing company, we expect that even such a reckless government has its limits on how far it is ready to go.
The prosecution and other authorities should do their work here and disclose how ventilators were purchased without the knowledge of the Crisis Staff and through companies close to the SDA.
The said companies are not involved in the procurement of medical equipment and are not on the official list of the Medicines Agency, the statement said.
