Radončić: We began the preparations for deportation of illegal migrants from BiH

FENA Muhamed Hadžibegić

SARAJEVO, April 23 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fahrudin Radončić presented today at a press conference in Sarajevo the first measures to try to deport illegal economic migrants from BiH to their countries of origin.

He pointed out that he has sent a letter to the Foreigners' Affairs Service asking them to submit to the Ministry of Security the exact number of illegal migrants by their country of origin.

"The BiH Ministry of Security has information that a large number of illegal migrants do not want to reveal their identity and their country of origin, so it is necessary for the Office to provide us with their total number with their assumed citizenship," said Radončić.

He added that he has also asked the Service to conduct a survey among illegal migrants as to whether there were any of them agreeing to voluntary deportation.

Radončić said that these measures are to serve as a message to potential future migrants, but also to certain EU countries, that BiH would not become and serve as a migrant depot from which they would then make a selection and choose only the skilled and able-bodied workers.
