Softić: Topic of the EU summit must be Dodik's spread of hatred for Brussels

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 22 (FENA) - Information from European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi that the EU will allocate 250 million euros to help Bosnia and Herzegovina is extremely positive news for our country, said Vice President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Safet Softić.

Although this amount meets only a part of the needs, it is still by far the largest international assistance that comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina at the height of this pandemic. And in this way, the EU has shown that it is a sincere friend to our country, to which every citizen of this country should be grateful.

“It is absurd that despite all this assistance, political representatives from the entity of RS, led by Milorad Dodik, have disparaged European Union assistance and even spread Euroscepticism and hate speech towards the EU. In parallel, we have the absurd phenomenon that the assistance from Russia is glorified, which, compared to the European, is miserable, while being sent selectively with the aim of introducing divisions in BiH and undermining stability,” Softić said.

He recalls that High Commissioner Borell has already pointed to such phenomena in the context of Serbia, where EU assistance is being targeted and discredited. Dodik is doing the same thing in BiH, spreading Euroscepticism, and that must be the topic of the upcoming EU-Western Balkans summit in Zagreb.

“Also, when assessing BiH's progress on the EU path, the truth about who is the main obstacle in BiH must be finally told and that is obviously Milorad Dodik. The key mistake of the EU is that they have been running away from telling the truth for years, trying to say that "everyone in BiH is guilty", both those who move things forward and Dodik who is stopping the progress. This indulgent relation from Brussels has just produced this kind of person Dodik is now, who at the time of the crisis is spreading even open hatred for Brussels. That is why it is high time for the EU, at the Zagreb summit, to reconsider its attitude towards his destructive policy,” Softić concluded.
