GORAŽDE, April 17 (FENA) - A delegation of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Prime Minister Fadil Novalić, is visiting Bosnia Podrinje Canton (BPC) Goražde.

Prime Minister Novalić, accompanied by representatives of the BPC Goražde Government, visited the construction site of the Hranjen Tunnel, the most challenging part of the future section of the Goražde – Sarajevo expressway, where the construction works are being carried out continuously.

“One of the golden rules of the crisis is that you do not destroy investments because they are running an economic life that has frozen in a certain way, so in any case no reduction of investments is foreseen and we have come here to see how one of the bigger projects, except for Corridor Vc, is functioning. This tunnel is the third longest in Southeastern Europe and it is a very significant investment, promised in Dayton and I am glad that we were able to start it and we believe that we will succeed and finish it,” said Novalić.

On this occasion, he also referred to the amendments to the Labor Law that provoked various reactions of the trade unions.

“Here, too, they are working in three shifts on this site because of self-isolation and systems, and this is contrary to the current Labor Law, so the length of work is not in compliance with the law. We now make a set of articles in the Labor Law that will apply from now on, whenever we declare a state of natural disaster or other disasters, that people can work from home, longer, in smaller groups and the like. These are all positive changes that we make for the future, therefore we then only declare state of disaster and in this case other rules apply, unpaid and paid work, the time allowed by the current law may be extended, because we are now in violation of the Law and the instructions given by the Crisis Staff,” emphasized Novalić.

He added that the amendments to the Labor Law seek to allow everyone in an emergency situation to bear the burden equally.

“One of the main assumptions why we are changing them is that in the present and future times we can easily reduce wages, so that everyone can bear the burden together, but the current Labor Law does not allow it. We had very negative experiences during the last crisis, wages were reduced, but they were not within the bounds of the law and then lawsuits followed that we had to pay. This time we will not allow it,” said Novalić.

Engineer of the Euroasfalt Company Jasmin Bučo stressed that all protective measures had been taken at the construction site of the Hranjen tunnel in accordance with the coronavirus pandemic.

He recalled that the construction work began in mid-September 2019.

SDA BiH President Bakir Izetbegović also visited the site of the Hranjen Tunnel.

“It is very important that the investments in BiH continue, one of the more important and expensive investments is the one that will connect Sarajevo with Goražde. I think the works will accelerate very much so that we will finish in some deadlines,” said Izetbegović.

A meeting with officials from that canton is underway, after which a delegation of the FBiH Government will visit the Goražde Cantonal Hospital and the Vitkovići industrial zone.
