MOSTAR, April 7 (FENA) - Two women died in the isolation ward for Covid-19 patients at the University Clinical Hospital Mostar in the past 24 hours, one from Čitluk (1937) and one from Konjic (1942), which makes up a total of six coronavirus-related deaths in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
Advisor to the cantonal prime minister, Darko Juka said at a press conference at the HNC Civil Protection Staff that 151 tests were carried out at the Mostar hospital by midnight last night, 20 of which were positive for Covid-19, meaning that there are currently 123 people in the canton infected with coronavirus.
"Of the newly infected persons, seven were registered in Čitluk, nine in Čapljina, three in Mostar and one in Jablanica," Juka said, pointing out that there are currently five patients on a ventilator and nine are receiving oxygen at the hospital in Mostar.
Juka also pointed out that just before 13.00 hrs., it was confirmed that the mayor of Čitluk, Marin Radišić, was positive for the Covid-19 virus.
Speaking of two newly deceased patients, a specialist in infectiology at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases of the Mostar hospital, Siniša Skočibušić pointed out that these were elderly patients with previous comorbidities, adding that they tried to do the best for the patients, but that the disease had a fast and unpredictable course, which significantly complicates their work.
He emphasized that more clusters have been developed in the HNC and that a new, Čapljina cluster has been revealed in which the number of patients is increasing.
