BiH Presidency supports measures taken to protect from coronavirus

SARAJEVO, April 6 (FENA) - At today's regular session, the BiH Presidency adopted information from BiH Council of Ministers Chairman Zoran Tegeltija on measures and activities undertaken to protect from the coronavirus pandemic, as well as measures to mitigate the economic consequences.

The BiH Presidency stated that authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina have taken timely measures to protect from the pandemic, and that measures are being taken to protect the economy.

The BiH Presidency stated that the conclusions from the 56th extraordinary session of the BiH Presidency from 16 March 2020 and the 57th Extraordinary Session of the BiH Presidency from 22 March 2020 are being implemented.

Bearing in mind the epidemiological situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina related to the coronavirus pandemic, the BiH Presidency tasks the BiH Council of Ministers, in cooperation with the entities’ and Brčko District authorities, to provide quarantine at border crossings within 24 hours. Failure to do so will require the BiH Presidency to close all border crossings for the flow of people who have not been quarantined.

The BiH Presidency tasks the BiH Council of Ministers, in cooperation with the entities’ and Brčko District BiH authorities, to provide quarantine for all persons coming from abroad to Bosnia and Herzegovina within local communities within 24 hours.

At today's session, the BiH Presidency consulted with BiH Council of Ministers Chairman Zoran Tegeltija on the Draft Law on the Budget of the institutions and international obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2020.

The BiH Presidency tasked the BiH Council of Ministers to reconsider the Draft Law on the Budget of institutions and international obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2020, which will enable the smooth functioning of state-level institutions and the realization of their constitutional and legal obligations, the extraordinary circumstances arising from the initial drafting of the 2020 Budget.

The BiH Presidency requests that the new Draft Budget be submitted by 31 May 2020 at the latest. The new Draft Law on the Budget of the institutions and international obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2020 should be adapted to the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic by providing for cost savings, while respecting the budgetary framework of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina agreed at the Fiscal Council meeting on December 27, 2019. Preferably, the funds secured in this way should be proposed in a separate item to help eliminate the economic damage caused by the pandemic, the BiH Presidency said.
