SARAJEVO, April 3 (FENA) - Aida Pilav, Head of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Health Crisis Staff, said today that a total of 38 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the canton.

"A total of 481 of our fellow citizens have been tested, which still speaks in favor of a relatively low positive rate compared to the number tested. Seven people have been hospitalized at the Podhrastovi Clinic at the Sarajevo University Clinical Center, six of them with a lighter clinical state, one being a more severe case but not on a ventilator. Unfortunately, to date, we have three fatalities associated with the coronavirus infection," Pilav said.

Regarding the age of coronavirus positive persons, in the total number of them, the highest number is in the age group 51-60, i.e., 37.1 percent, and in the age group 61-70, 22.9 percent. Pilav added, that a very important public health measure is to ban the movement of the population over 65 years of age. Generally speaking, older patients over 60 years of age who are confirmed to be positive for coronavirus, comprise 29 percent.

"The number of testing done has increased recently, but luckily we are still recording a trend of less than ten percent of positive cases. This does not mean that we can relax, we will closely monitor the situation in the coming period," Pilav added.

She confirmed that two persons tested positive for Covid-19 at the Butmir military base. These are nationals of Hungary and Austria. They are EUFOR employees, Pilav added, and are in continued contact with our health services.

Also, their healthcare service has made adequate isolation and self-isolation measures for those persons who have been in contact with them, and so far there is no confirmation that any other EUFOR staff have any acute respiratory symptoms, Pilav said.
