Čerkez warns of the need for strict adherence to measures determined

SARAJEVO, March 25 (FENA) - Assistant Minister of Health of the Federation of BiH and Member of the Crisis Staff, Goran Čerkez, today warned of the need for strict adherence to all measures and recommendations regarding the prevention of spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

At the same time, he urged citizens in isolation to strictly adhere to self-isolation measures at home, including hygiene measures and avoiding closer contact with members of the household, as well as regular ventilation of the premises in which they reside.

Commenting on FENA's inquiry regarding treatment after the expiration of self-isolation period (14 days), Čerkez pointed out that after the expiration of that period, each person should contact / consult an epidemiologist to determine the current situation, or possibly conclude that the period had passed without symptoms, all for the utmost care of their loved ones as well as the people the particular person has been in contact with.

He objected stigmatization of people who have been in isolation for some reason, and which, according to comments in the media and social networks, is increasing, and evaluated it as an unnecessary phenomenon that can do no good.

In this regard, he recalled that more than 23,000 people in isolation have been recorded in the FBiH so far.

He added that one of the recommendations of the FBiH Ministry of Health was to designate a space / facility for people who violate isolation in a way that they are not found at the address, where they would be supervised until the deadline for self-isolation.

"Unfortunately, this seems to be the only way to stop the irresponsible citizens," Čerkez concluded.

In contrast, he recalled, for example, the self-isolation of a first-person infected in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, a woman who, upon returning from Italy, through conscientious and responsible behavior, staying in the house and strictly adhering to and following the established measures, prevented the spread of coronavirus infection in a wider area.
