FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 22 (FENA) - Croatian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Ivan Sabolić thanked the Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka tonight for the support the City of Sarajevo has extended to the City of Zagreb in the wake of a major earthquake that has hit the Croatian capital this morning.

The City of Sarajevo tonight sent a heartwarming and strong message of support and love to the City of Zagreb with the illuminated Sarajevo City Hall.

"As all of us are fighting the coronavirus pandemic together, the City of Zagreb has suffered one of the most devastating earthquakes in its history. The capital of BiH is sending a message to the citizens of Zagreb and all of Croatia that you are in our thoughts and prayers tonight. These difficult challenges we face will strengthen our friendship and deepen our cooperation," said Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka.

Earlier today, he also sent a letter of support to Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić.

"I am convinced, Mr. Bandić, that you, the citizens of the City of Zagreb and the Government of Croatia will rise again and recover from this serious disaster, as we shall, by working together and in solidarity, overcome the coronavirus pandemic. Sarajevo never forgets its friends," wrote Skaka.

This gesture was received with gratitude in Zagreb and all over Croatia.

"I spoke with Mayor Skaka tonight and thanked him personally for this wonderful and strong gesture of support and friendship," Ambassador Sabolić told FENA.
