SARAJEVO, March 19 (FENA) - The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has put in force one of the 18 conclusions reached yesterday and has imposed the decision to engage the BiH Armed Forces to help civilian structures combat the pandemic of the new Covid-19 coronavirus, the BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović confirmed in an interview with FENA, noting at the same time that it was an important decision because it would help BiH combat the pandemic as successfully as possible.

The Council of Ministers and the Coordination Body, formed after the Council of Ministers declared a state of natural or other disaster, will make concrete decisions and address specific issues, but Džaferović says it is important for the Armed Forces and their non-combatant, material and technical means to be present. They will be used as decided by the Coordination Body or the Council of Ministers.

"According to what we at the session of the BiH Presidency heard in the debate, that means setting up tents at the border crossings that will be there for the control of the flow of people and goods. The tents will be used as a fourteen-day quarantine for BiH citizens returning to BiH,"  Džaferović explained.

He appealed to BiH citizens who are abroad and reside there not to come to BiH during this crisis and to put themselves or others in an unpleasant situation without need, in which case they will be subject to various procedures because everyone must protect themselves.

"We must do everything necessary to fight the pandemic as much as possible for the country and its inhabitants," Džaferović added.

Commenting on the BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik's statement that the Republika Srpska government would decide to set up an entity police checkpoints at each international border crossing to control the entry of citizens into BiH, Džaferović said that political debates were unnecessary in this situation.

He emphasized that the Presidency of BiH, as well as all institutions in BiH at the state, entity, cantonal and local levels, showed seriousness and willingness to deal with this problem in the best possible way.

"Therefore, we do not need any statements that create tensions in BiH. In this context, I urge that we act responsibly. The most important thing is to combat the pandemic as successfully as possible. It is clear to everyone that only the BiH Border Police can protect the state border. No other police agencies can be on the borders of BiH," Džaferović reminded.

He also emphasized that it is clear to everyone that no controls can be established on the inter-entity boundary line as this is directly contrary to the explicit provisions of the BiH Constitution, and any violation of those provisions is a serious crime and those who resort to it could be subject to criminal charges.

"We all need to organize ourselves to the best of our abilities and use all the resources of this country to deal with the pandemic as best as possible," he said.

The BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović has again called on all BiH citizens and those who are outside of BiH to comply with the orders, recommendations and instructions of the crisis staff authorities.

"This is the best way to deal with this problem in the most successful manner. I also urge all BiH institutions to monitor how we behave and how we treat the issued orders, recommendations and instructions and to take action against irresponsible individuals who are not ready to comply with the institutions that have been prescribed so far," underlined Džaferović.
