TOMISLAVGRAD, March 18 (FENA) - Firefighters and foresters have been fighting a large fire that has finally been extinguished at about 13. hrs. in the area of the settlements of Bukovica and Roško polje.
Mate Jurčević, Commander of the Professional Firefighting Unit in Tomislavgrad, told FENA the fire front was five to seven kilometers long, dry grass and low vegetation burned, and in one part the fire entered the pine forest.
"Someone started the fire, it must be an arsonist. This is confirmed by the facts on the ground that the fire started at seven separate locations between Bukovica and Roško Polje, and the wind soon merged it into a one large fire front," explained Jurčević.
Although this was partially inaccessible terrain, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, and the police were also briefed in order to identify the perpetrator.
