FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 12 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina Foreign Minister Bisera Turković spoke with Austrian Ambassador to BiH Ulrike Hartmann today about the development of bilateral cooperation, Austrian support for the European integration process and continuation of Austrian investment.

They stated that the two countries have traditionally very good relations at all levels and that in the forthcoming period it is necessary to work on strengthening economic cooperation.

Minister Turković emphasized that Austrian investments are of great importance for the economy of BiH since Austria is the largest investor in BiH and a significant foreign trade partner.

Appreciating Austria's long-term role as one of the key proponents of BiH's accession to the European Union, she asked for Austria to consider allowing BiH's expatriates in Austria, some 200,000 of them, to acquire national minority status.

Ambassador Hartmann stressed that Austria, as an EU member state and as a near immediate neighbor of the Western Balkans region, sincerely advocates and supports the process of integration of BiH, as well as of the entire region into the EU, and seeks to contribute to BiH making more concrete progress in this process, announced Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.
