SARAJEVO, March 3 (FENA) - The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) representative in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, Aljoša Čampara apologized to all citizens today after Novi Grad Sarajevo Mayor Semir Efendić (SDA) released a recording that allegedly shows a deal being made on the upcoming election for the chairman of the Cantonal Committee of that party.
He estimated that the party's leadership has reacted adequately to this new situation, recalling that the resignation of the SDA vice-president Asim Sarajlić also followed, who was taped making a deal to secure a vote for Fikret Prevljak, as candidate for the chairman of the SDA Cantonal Committee.
He also noted that the party has nominated two new candidates for the new Government of the Sarajevo Canton, and announced that he would support the proposal.
“I have nothing personal against the candidates, who were removed from the list, but they were compromised in the recording and I could not support the composition of the new government with these two ministers. Each government, including this one, should be given 100 days to see how it will work,” added Čampara, who announced that everyone who is part of the controversial recoding would be sanctioned, as announced by the SDA President Bakir Izetbegović.
He believes it would be good for the SDA to set up a Commission, adding that the process of electing the cantonal leadership was completely compromised, and besides the recording, it happened for the first time that there was no presentation of the proposed candidates for the said position.
“The procedure has been violated and what is scary to me is that certain individuals from municipal organizations have asked the photos of the ballots as a confirmation. The process has been completely degraded, but the party's authorities will have to decide. We have to find strength and get out of this situation even stronger,” he said.
