Salkić: Banja Luka has never been, or would ever be a Serb city

BANJA LUKA, February 27 (FENA) - Statements that Banja Luka is exclusively a Serb city is an act of spreading religious and national hatred with continued calls for political and any other form of dominance, discrimination and quiet persecution of all those who disagree with Milorad Dodik's current separatist policies,” said today Vice-President of the RS entity Ramiz Salkić.

Such statements, he stressed, are detrimental to all citizens and are not in the interest of peace and progress of the citizens of Banja Luka, and all other citizens of the entities and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He recalled that Banja Luka is an old Bosnian town mentioned in folklore songs a thousand times and as such it has been cherished and kept in the hearts of all citizens of Banja Luka and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“It will always remain so, and Milorad Dodik's nationalist and separatist policies will not succeed, and neither will the aggressive policies of war criminal Radovan Karadžić, who led Bosnian Serb rebels and as such, was convicted of genocide against Bosniaks/Muslims in the UN Safe Zone of Srebrenica,” said Salkić.

Banja Luka has never been, nor it would ever be, ‘a Serb city’, much less a city claimed by Aleksandar Vučić, as Dodik implies, the same Vučić "who was a participant of the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina."

"Banja Luka was and remains the city of all those who love it, not those who take it for themselves and spread hatred towards others," Salkić said.

Banja Luka and Bosnia and Herzegovina, says Salkić, have survived a lot through history and outlived many of those who tried to divide Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Bosnia and Herzegovina will also survive these latest attacks by Milorad Dodik.

“The consequences of Mlorad Dodik's separatist and warmongering policies are visible the best before diplomatic consulates in Banja Luka. Every day, citizens leave the city as they do not want to live in a society of uncertainty and fear on a daily basis of possible conflict produced by the current government in the entity led by Milorad Dodik.

Because of all this, in the interest of peace and stability, and in the interest of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, it is high time for Milorad Dodik to stop threatening peace in this country,” warned Vice President of the RS entity Ramiz Salkić.

President of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, previously said at a news conference today that the SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović "cannot claim Banja Luka as his own city and that this city belongs to Serbs, the Serb people and the RS."

"Banja Luka belongs more to Aleksandar Vučić and is more supportive of Vučić than it will ever be of Izetbegović and his followers," Dodik said today at a press conference.
