Tuzla Canton officials: No need to spread coronavirus panic (VIDEO)

FENA Press release

TUZLA, February 25 (FENA) - Although official information has emerged in the public that a patient arriving from Italy with symptoms of severe flu has been hospitalized this morning at the University Clinical Center, the Tuzla Cantonal Ministry of Health says there is no need to spread panic and that there is no risk of the coronavirus.

Due to the danger of the spread of coronavirus, the crisis headquarters of the Tuzla Canton, consisting of epidemiologists from the University Clinical Center Tuzla, doctors from the Public Health Institute of the TC, representatives of the Tuzla International Airport and the Border Police of BiH, held a meeting today.

"We made the decision to include Health Centers and to educate their staff on how to sample for the virus at the primary level of health care. Namely, we are already in a situation where it is necessary to provide isolation for travelers who resided in areas where the coronavirus is active," says Health Minister in the Government of Tuzla Canton Dajana Čolić.

The Crisis Headquarters in Tuzla Canton, acting on the recommendation of the federal health institutions, issued a recommendation to travel agencies to cancel all subsequent travels to high-risk countries.

"We are approaching holidays, so we want to prevent the spread of infections to our area, which is why this recommendation was followed by travel agencies. In particular, we asked all travel agencies to provide us with lists of travelers who planned to travel in the coming period. We want to know if the Agencies are ready to comply with our recommendations, but we also want to track people who have resided in the areas where the coronavirus has been active," says Minister Čolić.

A meeting of the Federal Ministry of Health will be held tomorrow with all the cantonal ministries of health in the Federation of BiH, and the Minister of Health of the Tuzla Canton will convey some of the issues to the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH.
