SARAJEVO, February 25 - BiH Journalists Association has called on all media outlets and journalists in BiH to report responsibly on the spread of coronavirus and not to publish unverified information that can only cause unnecessary panic among the population.
They also urge colleagues to make responsible contributions based on proven facts and in accordance with principles of journalistic ethics, to contribute to the fight against disease, rather than merely aggravate the situation with a sensationalist approach.
They also urged the media to avoid reporting in a way that creates hostility to entire nations in which the disease has spread.
As journalists are among groups mostly exposed to risk of infection, we urge employers and editors to provide basic protection for journalists and photojournalists when they are sent to assignments, especially to ambulances and hospitals, it is said in a statement from the BiH Association of Journalists.
