Aluminij Shareholders Assembly rejects Abraham Group proposal

FENA

MOSTAR, February 21 (FENA) - Aluminij Mostar Shareholders Assembly rejected the lease agreement with the Abraham Group at a special session today.

Secretary of the FBiH Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry Stipo Buljan, the plenipotentiary of the FBiH Government at the Shareholders Assembly, said that almost 80 percent of the participants were against the agreement.

“The representative of the Republic of Croatia voted in favor today, and on behalf of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina I voted against this contract, because I think there are many uncertainties. The government, in the first place, wants to protect workers and property, and this contract is not nearly defined and it is quite normal that it has been rejected,” said Buljan.

According to him, there are a number of technical errors about the lease agreement and therefore this agreement is unacceptable to the FBiH Government.

“If we assume that this contract was excellent, I would have to vote against it again because the Supervisory Board made a decision in the name of another company in relation to the company that should conclude the contract. Here was a suggestion that Aluminij Mostar Ltd. is contracting with Aluminij Industry, and the decision itself is something else, it is about the Abraham Group,” said Buljan.

He also stressed that the Management, the Supervisory Board and all participants in the decision-making process were given 30 days to correct the errors and return them to the FBiH Government.

“The contract should be corrected to be acceptable to the Government and other shareholders, because this company is very important. Those who are working with statistics can see what it means to not have a company such as Aluminij,” Buljan said.

President of the Small Shareholders Association “Dali”, Zlatko Topić, said the outcome of the session was expected.

“The Abraham Group offer is shameful and as humiliating to a company like Aluminij. They offer 30,000 KM a month for rent, and for that much money you can rent a slightly larger cafe in Mostar. This is a humiliation of all the employees and all the generations who worked in Aluminij,” Topić pointed out.

He claimed that Aluminij could be started and saved if the FBiH Government provided 15 million KM.

“In order for this to happen, the Supervisory Board would have to resign irrevocably, because they are the ones who brought Aluminij into this situation,” Topić said.

The Mostar-based Aluminij production facilities were shut down on July 10, 2019, after the company was disconnected from the power grid due to accumulated debt.

The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the largest single owner of Aluminij Mostar with 44 percent of the shares, with same amount being held by small shareholders, while the Government of the Republic of Croatia owns the remaining 12 percent of the shares.
