Simplified registration of trade crafts in FBiH with the new law

FENA Senka Trgovčević

SARAJEVO, February 16 (FENA) - FBiH Minister for Development, Entrepreneurship and Crafts Amir Zukić told FENA that a new law on crafts and related activities in the FBiH would create the preconditions for establishing a new crafts registry because there is no reliable data on exactly how many registered crafts are in the Federation of BiH.

"In order to enter into force, after the House of Representatives, the law must be passed in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH as well. I expect that to happen in the next 15 days, when the session of the House of Peoples takes place," said Zukić.

"According to the existing practice, if a craftsman has not submitted a request for cancellation of his craft and submitted the appropriate documentation, the craft is still registered as "viable" in the Tax Administration, and there are many who stopped their work due to death, retirement or simply quitting so current occupational records are highly questionable. In addition, the second problem is that they are kept as if they were accounted for by lump sums and certain contributions. This creates fictitious claims that do not stand because these trades do not operate. That is why, under the new law, these trades will be shut down and we will get a real number of trade crafts in the Federation of BiH," Zukić explained.

The law will simplify the registration and functioning of crafts.

According to the available records, the current number of trade crafts ranges from 48,000 to 50,000.

"First of all, the process of registration of trades is shortened from 15 to seven days with the possibility of it being a one-day and very fast online registration. The law stipulates that all documents to be submitted by a craftsman should be obtained ex officio so that craftsmen would spend much less time in bureaucracy and collecting the paperwork necessary to register the craft," said Zukić.

Among the most important novelties enacted by the law is that foreign trade will be facilitated so that the craftsman can import raw materials for his production and export the products.

The Chambers of Crafts should be an extended hand to the craftsmen, dealing with the education of craftsmen and master's exams, which, so far, has not been the case. These powers have been given by the new legal provisions.
