Mitrović:Trilateral meeting on construction of Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway in May

SARAJEVO, February 12 (FENA) – BiH Minister of Communications and Transport Vojin Mitrović spoke today with Turkish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Haldun Koc in Sarajevo about cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on infrastructure projects.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the current project and the implementation of the agreement regarding the construction of the Belgrade-Bijeljina-Brčko-Sarajevo motorway and the expressway from Sarajevo via Pale, Rogatica, Višegrad, Vardište, with a connection to Goražde, to Belgrade.

Minister Mitrović said that Ambassador Koc was interested in the current course of realization of the project, as well as further dynamics and plans. 

“We discussed the details, as well as the trilateral meeting held last year in Belgrade between three presidents (Turkey, Serbia and BiH),” Mitrovic said in a press statement.

At the same time, he announced that a new trilateral meeting would follow in May, stating that it had been agreed that a ministerial-level meeting would be held to define certain technical and operational issues, in the meanwhile.

It was also agreed to set up a technical delegation to monitor the implementation of the Agreement on the construction of the motorway.

“It is in the interest of Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, as well as of the whole region, to finish this infrastructure project as soon as possible,” said Mitrović, assessing that it is a large and very significant project for the whole Balkans, southern Europe and Asia.

In the context of the dynamics of realization of the mentioned project, the interlocutors stated that the part from Kuzmin (Serbia) to Bijeljina is at an advanced stage, and it is part of the project agreed by the Republic of Serbia together with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey.
