SARAJEVO, February 11 (FENA) – BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić received credentials from Ambassador of Canada to BiH, based in Budapest Caroline Charette.
During his meeting with Ambassador Charette, Komšić expressed his expectation that good political relations between the two countries would continue to develop and that they would positively influence the promotion of overall bilateral cooperation, especially economic, cultural and educational.
Chairman Komšić thanked the Government of Canada for its support to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to full membership in Euro-Atlantic integration, and expressed hope that support would continue, especially on BiH's path to NATO.
He stressed that the integration of the countries of the Western Balkans region is essential for stability and security, and that BiH is determined to contribute to peace, stability, security and prosperity in the region.
During the meeting, Komšić also thanked the Parliament of Canada for adopting the Genocide Resolution commemorating the Srebrenica genocide.
Ambassador Caroline Charette said Canada is a friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and will continue to support it on its path to the European Union and NATO.
The Ambassador expressed her gratitude to Bosnia and Herzegovina for supporting Canada for non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.
She announced the opening of Canada's Honorary Consulate in BiH, which was welcomed by Chairman Komšić, saying that this would enhance the development of the two countries' overall relations, the BiH Presidency stated.
