Šarović: The silent accession into NATO is already quite obvious

SARAJEVO, February 11 (FENA) - The Serb Democratic Party President Mirko Šarović said at a press conference today in East Sarajevo that the party supports efforts by certain, political and international representatives in BiH to change BiH electoral legislation.

He noted that we are entering "a critical period and all that could possibly be done is in the next two to three months."

“My opinion is that we need small, but necessary changes for great success, and that major changes and changes to the Constitution and many of the provisions of the Election Law that objectively need to be changed, is essentially a waste of time and those who may not want to change anything are likely to profit from it,” Šarović said.

Among other things, he stated that these were changes that would relate to the mandates being assigned to a political party, not to an individual; provisions concerning electronic monitoring and scanning of ballots and complete reform of absentee ballots, i.e., voting via mail.

“All these provisions in the law so far have essentially been a great platform for, I would say, electoral corruption, which has been present in BiH for years. We will be part of the process, we will support the amendments to the Election Law to the extent that is realistically possible and optimal at the moment, but we can enter a new phase only after the local elections,” Šarović said.

Šarović also spoke about "the issue of pushing BiH and the RS into NATO".

“This great mistake in terms of our national interests and the great betrayal, the SDS, and hopefully some other political parties, will not forgive the current RS government and the key man, the Presidency member Milorad Dodik. I think that this silent accession into NATO is already quite obvious. The registration of prospective military property will soon begin, as one of the first issues that our representative has undertaken,” Šarović said.

He announced that the SDS would invite other partners as well and that it would gather enough signatures to be able to convene a session of the RS National Assembly on this matter.
