Minister Ramić signs Protocol on sustainable return

SARAJEVO / SAKARYA, February 2 (FENA) - FBiH Minister for Displaced Persons and Refugees Edin Ramić is on an official visit to the Republic of Turkey at the invitation of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB).

During his visit, the Minister attended the Union's annual meeting in Sakarya, held working meetings to discuss future cooperation in the field of development and investment in the sustainability of return in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and signed the Protocol on Cooperation with the President of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities, Ugur Ibrahim Altay, yesterday.

The Protocol envisages joint cooperation in the field of sustainable return in BiH over the next three years.

The joint cooperation will focus on the development of infrastructure in returnee communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, projects to improve conditions for economic growth, create business environment and create jobs for returnees in BiH, as well as support projects for agricultural development of returnee communities in BiH.

“I believe that in this way, by working together, we will be able to easily and quickly determine the priorities for investing in returnee communities in BiH, but also to work on developing new programs and projects, and by pooled funds we will make living and working conditions better in many returnee communities in our country,” said Minister Ramić.

FBiH Ministry of Displaced Persons and the Union of Turkish World Municipalities will mutually benefit from the exchange of knowledge and experience programs, work on creating new projects and organizing joint programs, with the aim of successfully supporting the returnee population and contributing to the sustainability of achieved return in BiH.

The Union of Turkish World Municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in returnee communities, has implemented several successful projects.

“In several municipalities in the Federation of BiH, their support is indeed significant and affects the development of local communities. This visit was an opportunity to look at all aspects of establishing possible cooperation, where we presented the current state of affairs and considered the possibilities of joint action, all with the aim of finding the best solutions for investing in those projects that contribute to sustainability of return in our country. We are grateful for good cooperation of our two friendly countries, as well as the commitment and support of the Republic of Turkey, and we believe that through our organizations and institutions, we will continue to be a strong support for our country in its development and European path,” said Minister Ramić.

Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) is an organization with more than 1,200 member municipalities, assisting local governments in friendly countries, including a significant number of municipalities in BiH.

In the last four years, TDBB has implemented more than 50 infrastructure projects in BiH, such as the construction of educational, religious and social facilities in returnee areas.
