SARAJEVO, January 28 (FENA) - Amila Omersoftić, president of the Association for the Protection of Foreign Currency Depositors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, says that the Republic of Serbia has refused to recognize their savings at Invest Bank and JIK Bank Belgrade for 1,400 depositors from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that they were told to address the court in Belgrade.
Omersoftić announced at a press conference today that she will attend a session of the House of Representatives of the Federation of BiH Parliament tomorrow and will ask Speaker Mirsad Zaimović to file criminal charges against the FBiH Privatization Agency director Amer Bekric, as he issued depositors with false statements stating that their savings are in BiH, not in the Republic of Serbia.
“Because of these certificates, we cannot exercise our right to claim our money until a criminal offense has been proven,” Omersoftić said.
However, she stressed that some of the savers have received receipts on the collection of their savings in Belgrade, but stressed that they have had major problems with the billing procedure, such as waiting in lines for 12 hours and being paid in eight installments over four years.
She recalled that around 5,000 savers in BiH are claiming the amount of about 28 million KM of pre-war savings in the Serbian banks.
