SARAJEVO, January 28 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković received on Monday in an inaugural visit the Head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative to BiH Ambassador Johann Sattler.
Minister Turković expressed gratitude to the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina for all its assistance and support in the EU integration process and in general reform processes in BiH.
She also expressed hope that the current Croatian and upcoming German EU presidency, countries that strongly encourage the European path of BiH, will be of use to BiH to obtain a positive opinion on the application for EU membership.
Ambassador Sattler emphasized that there is a favorable stance in Brussels when it comes to BiH's European path, and agreed with the Minister that it is necessary to take advantage of the positive momentum and to do everything for BiH to make progress along that path.
This entails, above all, continuous efforts, especially with regard to the implementation of the 14 key priorities from the European Commission's Opinion, with a focus on the areas of democracy, functionality of the state, public administration reform, the rule of law and the Election Law.
Minister Turković emphasized that there is a general consensus on EU membership in BiH and that this is the most important foreign policy goal.
The collocutors agreed that it would take a lot of effort and understanding, but that ultimately, BiH and all its citizens would benefit.
The meeting was also a chance to discuss the strengthening of regional cooperation and other current political topics in BiH, the region and the world, stated the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.
