SARAJEVO, January 23 (FENA) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury, Vjekoslav Bevanda, today received the United States Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson and discussed the adoption of the budget of the BiH institutions for 2020 and the implementation of reforms.
Minister Bevanda briefed Ambassador Nelson on the activities underway in the BiH Ministry of Finance and Treasury to prepare the budget for this year in order to finalize it in the first quarter, as interim financing restricts the institution's operations in terms of capital investments.
It was emphasized that there was a need for additional employment in the BiH Border Police, which faces the challenges of illegal migration, but so far, no legislation has been adopted to support it.
Bevanda pointed out that since 2012, there has been no increase in salaries for soldiers, police officers and other employees in the institutions of BiH, which is why he suggested that the base be increased by 4.5 percent, or to return it to the level it was seven years ago.
The collocutors agreed that the adoption of the Reform Program is a good start for a new convocation of the Council of Ministers of BiH and that it is encouraging that there are also items on the agenda that have waited for a long time to be addressed.
Ambassador Nelson welcomed today's adoption of the BiH Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking for 2020-2023 period in the Council of Ministers, stated the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH.
