BiH PA HoP supports salary increase for soldiers in the Armed Forces

SARAJEVO, January 23 (FENA) - Deputies in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina supported today's amendments to the Law on Salaries and Remunerations which will provide for the increase of salaries for soldiers and NCOs in the BiH Armed Forces with the lowest paygrade.

Military personnel in the category of Soldiers and NCOs have the lowest paygrade coefficient, accounting for 80 percent of the total military structure of professional military personnel, and the changes should improve their material status and stop the negative trends of them leaving the Armed Forces of BiH.

Considering the ratio of professional military personnel to other categories covered by the Law on Salaries and Remunerations in the Institutions of BiH, a significant disparity was found in the amount of the coefficients for the calculation of salaries of other employees in relation to professional military personnel.

Considering that the police and civil service employees are on par with soldiers, non-commissioned officers and officers, and performing the same or similar tasks, the existing law shows a disparity in the coefficients for the soldiers relative to police officers and civil servants, at the expense of professional military personnel, it is stated in a press statement of the BiH PA House of Peoples.
