Damir Arnaut submits bill on reducing severance pay to BiH PA

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 22 (FENA) – Damir Arnaut, an MP in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament has once again submitted a bill which significantly reduces retirement severance pay, given the claims of some deputies that they voted against the bill by mistake at the session of that House, when the law was not adopted.

Given that the voting ratio at that session indicates that correcting such mistakes would lead to adopting of this extremely important law, MP Arnaut finds it necessary to submit it again.

The draft law stipulates that the maximum severance pay will be reduced from the current 35,000 KM to 10,000 KM. Arnaut recalls that these maximum amounts were received by elected and appointed officials in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including MPs and delegates in the state parliament.

Arnaut pointed out that according to conservative indicators, at least 17 elected and appointed officials and advisers will be eligible for retirement and thus severance pay in this term.

As submitted for an emergency procedure, the bill should be on the agenda for the next session of the House of Representatives, Arnaut said.
