SARAJEVO, January 22 (FENA) - The Border Police (GP) BiH professional collegium, attended by Director of the BiH Border Polcie Zoran Galić, Deputy Director Fahrudin Halač, Assistant Director for Organization and Operations Dragan Kulić and heads of the basic organizational units of BiH BP and advisers discussed the situation in the area of border security and future activities, at a session held on Wednesday in Sarajevo.
Among other things, it was stated that, despite the use of all available human and material-technical capacities of this police agency, it is necessary to further strengthen the BiH BP in the border control and monitoring of the state border in the east and northeast of the country.
Director Galić emphasized that maximum engagement of existing human and technical and material capacities should be carried out in order to suppress illegal migration, i.e., to prevent illegal entry into BiH from the direction of the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro, as well as to prevent all forms of cross-border crime throughout the state borders.
For a more concrete answer to the problem of illegal migration requires, as he pointed out, we need amendments to the Border Control Act, the Foreign Citizens’ Act, the Asylum Act and regulations that would give police officers greater powers and increase the possibility of redeployment and engagement of officers at the border with Serbia and Montenegro.
The main problem for more efficient fight against illegal migration was highlighted by the insufficient number of police officers, poor infrastructure at border crossings and the lack of modern specialist equipment, stated the BiH Border Police.
