SARAJEVO, January 20 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić today received the credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ivana Hlavsova.
Komšić expressed appreciation for the continued support that the Czech Republic provides to BiH, bilaterally and as a member of the Višegrad Group, on its path to the European Union and NATO.
He stressed that support for BiH in the future is also very important, especially in the context of gaining the status of a candidate for EU membership, once the measures and recommendations from the European Commission's Opinion on BiH's application for EU membership are fulfilled.
Ambassador Hlavsova expressed the Czech Republic’s commitment to continue providing support to BiH on the Euro-Atlantic path, adding that support for EU enlargement is one of the main goals of the Czech Presidency of the Višegrad Group.
The two officials emphasized that the bilateral relations between BiH and the Czech Republic are good and without outstanding issues, and the successful cooperation in the field of education and culture was emphasized as well, noting that there was a need for improvement of relations in the economy .
Good relations between the two countries are based on strong historical, long-lasting ties, especially due to the fact that there is a Czech community that has lived in BiH for centuries, as well as the fact that BiH citizens have been living in the Czech Republic for many years, the BiH Presidency said.
