SARAJEVO, January 20 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić received credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dimitrios Papandreou.
The officials emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Greece have a strategic, friendly and long-term partnership, and that the two countries have good cooperation, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
Chairman Komšić expressed his gratitude to Greece for its continued support for Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to Euro-Atlantic integration, and expressed his expectation that this support would continue in the future.
Ambassador Papandreou said that Greece supports the Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that Greece's interest is continued support for that path.
According to him, Greece will continue building the European future established by the Thessaloniki Agenda of 2003, when the European future of the Western Balkan countries is confirmed. In this regard, he informed Chairman Komšić that a high-level meeting on the Western Balkans would be held in Greece on 24 February 2020, in order to support the process of EU enlargement to the Western Balkans.
Chairman Komšić said during the meeting that signing of an agreement between Athens and Skopje on resolving the name dispute in Macedonia is historic and important for the whole of Europe, and stressed that it should be instructive for everyone in the region, to resolve conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
Ambassador Papandreou also conveyed the greetings of Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos and his desire for progress and prosperity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the BiH Presidency announced.
