BiH young people point to the problem of air pollution in Sarajevo

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 17 (FENA) – Young people across Bosnia and Herzegovina pointed to the problem of air pollution in Sarajevo during training course on Civic activism and volunteering for youth leaders on the topic "Learn, Think and Act", and went out on the streets and distributed masks to citizens.

“I urge the authorities in Sarajevo to fight this problem as soon as they can, first because of the health of the population and then because of the reputation of the city. Some of the solutions I propose is popularizing electric vehicles, construction of green spaces and planting of trees, as well as setting stricter conditions for vehicle inspections,” said Nermin Topovičić from Banja Luka.

Robert Ružnić from Bihać added that one short walk was enough to feel how different air is in Sarajevo than in Bihać and how difficult it to breathe here.

An episode of "Alert" is currently in effect in the Sarajevo Canton, which restricts, among other things, driving vehicles with low EURO standard, the ban on the use of heavy fuel oil, but it is necessary for all citizens to get involved in solving this problem, and young people from all over BiH have done the first step, stated the Institute for Youth Development KULT.

The training course is implemented by the KULT Institute for Youth Development with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden to BiH.
