Meeting of representatives of caucuses in SC Assembly ends without results

SARAJEVO, January 15 (FENA) - The afternoon meeting of the leaders of the political parties' caucuses, which are participating in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, has ended without results.

Independent MP Damir Marjanović confirmed it today. His impression is that there will be no Assembly session that Danijela Kristić (the People and Justice Party) announced for tomorrow.

Kristić said earlier today at the press conference that an authentic legal interpretation of the Office of the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina (OHR) had arrived, stating that her positioning as a Cantonal Assembly Speaker is constitutional, legal and under the Rules of Procedure, that is, the election of a Speaker with 18 votes in the Assembly is not possible, although on December 27 the new Assembly majority did so by appointing Mirza Čelik (Party of Democratic Action) as Speaker of the SC Assembly.

Damir Marjanović pointed out that his intention as an independent MP, as well as his colleague Damir Nikšić was to adopt the decision on the interim financing of the Sarajevo Canton tomorrow, so that budget beneficiaries would not be left without January salaries and other benefits.

Mirza Čelik (SDA), also a participant, said the OHR's legal interpretation says nothing but "what we have been saying", that is, it proves that the new assembly majority is right.

Čelik said he will come to the Assembly tomorrow to ask if the seal is at the Secretary of the SC Assembly, and if he is prevented from acting as the Speaker of the SC Assembly, the new assembly majority would leave the session. Thereafter, a session of the Collegium will be held and make an appointment for a session of the Assembly to discuss interim financing of the Canton.
