SARAJEVO, January 14 (FENA) - Deputies of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH discussed many issues in energy sector today regarding energy, gas, renewable sources and the environment.

Our Party MP Amela Kuskunović addressed the current issue of air pollution in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stating that air pollution can cause cancer, respiratory diseases, as well as brain damage, especially in children.

“There is a lack of analysis of the health status of residents in vulnerable areas. Our health is a political problem and requires a serious and multidisciplinary approach,” said Kuskunović.

DF MP Bahrudin Šarić said that deputies support the construction of replacement blocks, such as Block 7 of the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant.

“If this country needs replacement blocks, it should be supported. Block 7 of TPP Tuzla is not related to air pollution, but individual fireboxes are. We can easily ban the use of coal, but we need to think about citizens, what alternative they have to offer,” said A-SDA MP and Chairman of the Committee on Energy, Mining and Industry, Sefer Demirović.

The thematic session is dedicated to meeting the obligations of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina under the Energy Community Treaty, which is why MPs need to express their conclusions to overcome the deadlock in the process of aligning energy sector legislation with that of the European Union.
