Srebrenica Memorial Center presented the program of MPs engagement

FENA Press release

SREBRENICA, January 14 (FENA) - The Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center today unveiled a program for "MPs for the Memorial Center", which plans significant involvement of elected representatives in state, entity and cantonal legislative bodies in the activities of the institution.

The aim of the Memorial Center is to develop a wide network of elected representatives from all levels of government involved in decision-making processes, in order to have adequate information on the activities of the Memorial Center.

“It is of particular importance to advocate the adoption of legislation prohibiting the denial and minimization of genocide, joint action to combat hate speech, and liaising with various international partners that will contribute to raising awareness of the facts surrounding the Srebrenica genocide,” the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center said.

As preparations are underway to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, the Memorial Center has said that any form of support is important and that the involvement of MPs in this way is an opportunity for cooperation to promote the truth about genocide beyond the borders and ethnic or political divisions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Parliamentarians who get involved in this program will support the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center by allocating a regular symbolic monthly donation of 100 KM from their compensation (lump sum), and these funds will be used to earmark support for specific program activities of working with domestic and international partners, and the involvement of young people in genocide research in Srebrenica,” said the Memorial Center.
