Minister Gudeljević meets with Italian Ambassador to BiH Minasi

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 13 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Civil Affairs, Ankica Gudeljević, met with Italian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Nicola Minasi in Sarajevo and talked about establishing more effective cooperation between the two countries, BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs announced.

“Although this ministry has a coordinating role in areas such as education, health, science, culture and sport, I think we can do a lot to enhance the cooperation between the two countries. We want, first of all, through better and more efficient communication at all levels of government within Bosnia and Herzegovina, to speed things up and create an atmosphere in which we will have agreed positions on our foreign partners in the shortest possible time,” said Minister Gudeljević.

She recalled that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy have signed cooperation agreements in several areas, but that agreements defining cooperation in health and youth cooperation are missing.

“We believe that we should start the procedure for signing an agreement with the Republic of Italy in the field of health as soon as possible. We know that a large number of children with different diseases from BiH are being treated in Italy under very favorable conditions at the Sant'Orsola Institute in Bologna and would significantly facilitate and increase the number of treatment if a bilateral agreement was signed between the two countries,” said the Minister.

Italian Ambassador Nikola Minasi reminded that Italy is Bosnia and Herzegovina's second trading partner, just after Germany, which speaks to his country's interest in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He expressed interest in presenting employment opportunities in Italian companies in BiH to young people, especially high school students, as well as opportunities to use the VIA DINARICA program for employment of young people in the field of tourism.

Minister Gudeljević and Ambassador Minasi emphasized particularly good cooperation in the field of culture, and Ambassador Minasi also expressed the expectation that Minister Gudeljević would attend the conference on cultural cooperation in the Mediterranean at the invitation of the Italian Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini.
