MOSTAR, January 12 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament and the HDZ BiH president Dragan Čović and the People's Republic of China Ambassador Ji Ping met today and discussed economic affairs and the Chinese New Year ceremony which was this year also marked in Mostar.
"It is my pleasure to host Ambassador Ping in Mostar today and this continuity of meetings can truly give us the right to say that we have built excellent relations. Although the distance between China and BiH, as well as the difference in size and capabilities of the countries, is huge in economic, cultural and any other aspect, I believe we can point out our relationship as an example of excellent bilateral cooperation," Čović said after the meeting.
Čović congratulated Ambassador Ping, as well as the Chinese people, the Chinese New Year.
"This event, which we also mark here in Mostar, is also a sign of the friendship we have been building. I believe that the projects we have had in energy and transport infrastructure will be expanded this year, and the Chinese side is ready to be involved in all the big projects that we have initiated in these areas," said Čović.
The People's Republic of China Ambassador Ji Ping recalled that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"We came here to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the citizens of Mostar. This event is the first cultural activity this year, and also an integral part of celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. We have received the full support of Speaker Čović, who visited China several years ago and attended a major military parade and met with Chinese leaders. He is an old friend of the Chinese people,” Ping said.
He added that in addition to political, economic cooperation between China and BiH is growing every year.
"Chinese companies are present in the Herzegovina region, as well as in the Federation of BiH, and have several projects and our cooperation is constantly progressing. I expect that after the marking of the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, a greater number of Chinese companies will come to BiH, and they will also actively participate in the Mostar Fair," Ping said.
After the meeting, Čović and Ambassador Ji Ping attended the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
