SARAJEVO, January 12 (FENA) - According to AirVisual today, Sarajevo was at the top of the list of cities with the most polluted air.

This morning, the air pollution index in the capital of BiH was 405, while the significantly lower air pollution index (245) was recorded in Dhaka, Bangladesh. They are followed by Canberra in Australia with 198, Krasnoyarsk in Russia with index 192, Shanghai in China with 183, Delhi in India 181, Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan 180, Mumbai in India with 175, while the tenth place of the most polluted cities in the world was held by Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia with the index of 175.

According to the international classification, air pollution in Sarajevo is extremely health-threatening.

In order to briefly avoid the health-threatening smog, many Sarajevo citizens sought cleaner air in the surrounding mountains this weekend. Thus, Sarajevo picnic sites from Barice and Crepoljsko through Čavljak to Bukovik and Trebević and Bjelasnica mountains saw a great number of visitors past weekend, as confirmed by photos of hikers and skiers posted on social networks.

A view of the Sarajevo smog was the focus of numerous photos published yesterday.
